what to do in 4 days in and around Venice.

we had 4 wonderful days in and around Venice with beautiful weather and one of the worst sunbursts we’ve ever had.
I would recommend everything we’ve done to every other person who wants to see Venice and not just the touristy things.

EN: first of all I have to say – we didn’t planned our trip. I don’t think we ever planned any of our trips in detail!? 😀
We’re more the kind of spontaneous people. So one came to the other and as we were on a trip in cologne and we had one or two beer we decided to go to Venice for a short trip. We bought tickets for the Flixbus (and went for the over night connection which startet at 23pm and arrived at 9 at the morning in beautiful Venice. The Busses arrive in Venice Tronchetto from there you can take the „people mover“ (https://peoplemover.avmspa.it) for 1,50€ to the island or you take the Vaporettos (http://actv.avmspa.it/en/content/water-bus-service-timetable-0) into the city centre of Venice.

Package delivery – Venice style

EN: It was such a nice weather – sunny but not to warm – to walk trough the angled streets from Venice. As I mentioned above, we had no travel guide and no plan we just stoped when we saw something we liked and where our heart leads us. Venice isn’t that big so you’re often faster by walking than taking the Waterbus (in Venice they call it Vaporetto) because they stop very often in Venice City. After about 40 minutes we made it to the famous Rialto Bridge.

It is really impressing but if I’m honest – it’s not the bridge but the view from the top of the bridge which impressed me most. Also you have to come clear that there are no other transport ways than by foot or on the water. That is really impressive like how they manage to transport packages or goods into the houses of the few remaining residents of Venice.

EN: generally you don’t need a map or a tourist guide to find your way trough Venice because I’ve never been in a city which has such a nice and helpful signposting on every wall. So we just followed the signs to ‚San Marco‘ to get to the harbor where many of the vaporettos are stopping. We had booked a nice accommodation on Cavallino – a small island in front of Venice. So we took the Vaporetto from San Marco to ‚Porta Sabbioni‘ in Cavallino.

Tipp: If you are under 29 years old you can buy a „Rolling Venice“ ticket which offers you many benefits for cultural attractions and also to get a reduced ticket for the Vaporetto in Venice (http://www.veneziaunica.it/en/content/rolling-venice)

Our accommodation: CAVALLINO CAMPING

EN: We were in Venice for the first time so we had no plan where to stay. In the beginning of April there where just two camping grounds which were open and we decided to go for ‚Camping Cavallino‘ because they have cool possibilities to do the so called ‚Glamping‘. We choosed the SunLodge ‚Jungle‘ which comes with an gas stove, a coffee machine, a water boiler and real beds. This is what I call a perfect camping ground because I love the ‚tent feeling‘ but don’t like to sleep on the ground without fluffy bed sheets so tadaaa this is perf! (http://www.campingcavallino.com/en/glamping-in-veneto.html)

EN: Cavallino has many camping grounds and all of them are directly at the beach. I prefer holidays without too many people around me so this spring holidays were just right. I think I couldn’t recommend coming here in summer because it will be very full.

EN: because we had the ticket to drive unlimited times with the Vaporetto we decided to go also to Burano and Murano. Burano is famous for its very colorful houses and Murano for the glass crafts. Personally I didn’t liked Murano but Burano was very sweet and it’s really nice to take some pictures there. But that’s exactly what it is – people just come here for taking pictures.

EN: in the end I can tell that it’s worth it to come here for 4 days. We saw Venice, Burano, Murano and the beautiful Beach at Cavallino. We’ve drunk good wine and aperol spritz, ate some yummy pizza and mussels and just enjoyed every second!
